Alaska Tours

Alaska

This is the ultimate tour for adventure riders and riding to Northern Alaska really is the trip of a lifetime. Even just the name Alaska makes you think of great adventure. We will show you some of the finest roads, unbelievable views and experiences you will ever have on two wheels. The whole area is teeming with wildlife and you will see everything from Grizzly Bear to Alaskan Moose.

Lunch at Prudhoe Bay Because we will be riding on some rough roads and gravel, this trip is designed for experienced riders on Adventure bikes e.g. BMW GS, Suzuki V-Strom etc. The total trip is approximately 8000 miles and is a great test of man and machine.

The trip starts and finishes from San Francisco so you can take in some of the famous Pacific Coast Highway and some excellent roads, which don’t get ridden that often in North America.

The route will depart San Francisco and ride North up the Pacific Coast Highway through Vancouver and into Canada. We will take in The Salmon Tail Glacier at Hyder and maybe get a glimpse of a Grizzly catching a Salmon. We then head up the Cassiar Highway before joining the Alcan to Fairbanks.

Arctic Circle At Fairbanks, we will change tyres, store our luggage, and ride the unbelievable James W Dalton Highway to Prudhoe Bay, which is the most northerly point you can get to by road in the USA. The road is a mixture of tarmac, gravel, slippery mud and mosquito’s which will test your riding and concentration skills to the max. It’s a real challenge and when you’ve finished, we’ll have a beer and a steak in the most northerly rock and roll bar in the USA!!

Bikes washed and checked over, luggage loaded and confidence at an all time high, we then head back down to Tetlin Junction and join the Top of the World Highway which runs along a Overlooking Salmon Tail Glacier Hyder Alaska mountain range. Coffee at Chicken Alaska before heading back into Canada to Dawson City and a taste of a genuine Gold town which hasn’t changed for a century.

Heading south now we will take a rarely ridden road called the Taylor Highway to Watson Lake and then back on the Alcan all the way down to Jasper and the stunning Icefields Parkway. We then return into the USA via Glacier National Park before taking a fantastic raft trip into Hells Canyon.

We then ride down through Oregon on some fantastic roads rarely ridden before arriving back in San Francisco.

We finally meet a Moose The total mileage for this trip is approaching 8000 so there will be some long days in the saddle but you will never be short of something to look at. Keep your eyes peeled for the wildlife, which is everywhere!

As for all our US tours, we will arrange the shipping of your bike in a fully insured container to and from the USA so all you have to do is fly in and start your adventure. We will be using motels on this trip so no need to bring camping gear.

We will also advise you on bike preparation and what equipment to bring along.

We will be running 2 trips departing San Francisco on June 16th 2012 and July 21st 2012 .  We have 2 spaces available for the trip departing from San Francisco on June 16th 2012 so please get in touch if you want to be part of that trip.
